The Women's Section of the Hennepin County Adult Corrections Facility is at 1355 Shenandoah Lane, Plymouth, MN 55447. It is operated by Hennepin County Department of Community Corrections and Rehabilitation. The ACF is a short-term county corrections facility for adults convicted of felony, gross misdemeanor, and misdemeanor offenses, generally for custody up to one year. It is not the sheriff-operated downtown jail for people awaiting trial.

Women's Section Capacity and Population

The official Hennepin County ACF page states that the ACF has total capacity of 477. The women's section accounts for 78 beds, and the men's section accounts for 399 beds. The ACF population should not be blended with the downtown jail population dashboard. ACF residents are sentenced county residents or people in approved release and programming structures, while the downtown Adult Detention Center mainly holds adults accused before trial, people held on warrants, and people held on bail or court orders. If a search subject is not found in the ACF roster, the next step depends on custody status rather than a single countywide search box.

How to Look Up a Women's Section Resident

The official ACF roster is the correct search path for women in ACF custody and for people whose ACF sentence was completed in the past seven days. The search form has First Name and Last Name fields, a Search button, and a Clear button. The roster warns that the information is public-service information and should not be relied on for legal action. For formal court action, use court records and court orders.

2. Enter the resident's first name, last name, or both.
3. Select Search and review matching ACF records.
4. Check whether the record is an in-custody ACF resident or a sentence-completed record from the past seven days.
5. If the person is in pretrial jail, state DOC, federal, or ICE custody, use the correct separate locator.

Women's Section Address and Contact

The Women's Section has its own Shenandoah Lane address and emergency information line for female residents. General ACF information still uses the main ACF number. County guidance identifies the resident mail format separately from the physical women's section address, so mail should follow the ACF mail instructions rather than simply using the women's building address.

Visiting a Women's Section Resident

ACF visits are video visits. Onsite visits are free and last 25 minutes. Scheduling can be done up to two weeks ahead and must be done at least 24 hours ahead. Visitors need government identification and should arrive 10 minutes early. Minors must be with a parent or legal guardian, and proof such as a birth certificate or guardianship document may be required. Cellphones, cameras, recording devices, food, and beverages are prohibited.

Dress code rules prohibit halter, muscle, tank, and midriff tops, exposed backs, see-through clothing, swimsuits, shorts, low-cut, revealing, or tight clothing, cut-out pockets or holes, and skirts or dresses more than three inches above the knee. Former residents cannot visit within 60 days.

Mail, Phone, Money, and Commissary

The county says cash and checks received by mail are returned, so families should use the approved deposit channels instead of mailing money to a resident.

Deposits use onsite Cobra Cashier kiosks in the men's and women's lobbies, or electronic MoneyGram. For MoneyGram, use company name SSC Inmate Funding, receive code 7950, and facility ID MSP. Care packs are ordered through My Care Pack online or by calling 1-866-643-9557. One pack per week is delivered during canteen time.

Admissions and Intake for Women's Section Residents

ACF admissions are based on court commitments rather than the downtown jail's arrest-booking process. Everyone ordered to report begins intake in the men's section building, even when ultimately housed in the women's section. The county states that people reporting should bring identification, commitment paperwork, prescription medications in original containers, and medical alert ID bracelets. They should not bring valuables.

Clothing, undergarments, shoes, and hygiene kits are provided at admission. For work release, county guidance notes that residents should not expect release for work on the reporting day because employment verification may take up to two days. If a person ordered to report lacks transportation to Plymouth, the county documents a transport option from the Public Safety Facility by 12:30 p.m. Monday through Friday, excluding holidays.

Women's Section Programs and Family Services

The women's section shares ACF programming that includes medical and psychological services, substance use disorder treatment, social worker support, GED readiness, continuing education, job skills training, Productive Day work assignments, spiritual services, and classes with contracted providers. ACF spiritual offerings include worship and prayer services, Native American spiritual services, and sweat lodges constructed with American Indian OIC involvement.

County program materials identify two family-focused programs that are especially relevant to women residents. Child-friendly visitation through the Minnesota Prison Doula Project partnership provides parenting education, peer support, and child visits. Read to Me through Hennepin County Library lets residents send books and recordings of themselves reading to their children.
